Nadal Indian Wells Tournament

Rafael Nadal completed the glorious redemption with a tough win over Juan Martin del Potro at the Indian Wells Tournament. The Spaniard’s way wasn’t the easiest one as he had to face Roger Federer in the quarterfinals, and Tomas Berdych in the semifinals, which is quite unusual for the ATP Tour Masters tournament. It’s important to Nadal not only because he has won his first title since recovering from the knee injury, but also because he tied with his “eternal rival” Roger Federer with 22 ATP Tour Masters titles. Also important is the fact that he has finally won the title on the hard court because the Spaniard lost his 6 previous finals on the surface, which made him unsure about his form.

The finals were not an easy walkover for the Spanish tennis player this time. Even though no one at the BNP Paribas Open really doubted that Nadal would win the tournament. It did not get right from the beginning. He lost the first set 4-6 and had a lot of troubles hiding his nervousness. The comeback was perfect, as Nadal would later comment. He said it was a very emotional week for him and that he was happy to win like that, 6-3, 6-4. Nadal stands unbeaten during 1 and a half months after he has spent 7 months treating his knee. The third win at the Indian Wells Tournament, which was also the 600th victory in his career, got him $1 million and allowed to move to No. 4 of the ATP rating. Del Potro Also did a great job on his way to finals, defeating Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, who are the 3rd and 1st rank of the ATP rating, respectively.
